Celebrating Baby Clover: A Sweet Newborn Session in Queenstown

It’s always a joy to welcome returning families into my Queenstown studio, and this session was extra special. I had the absolute pleasure of documenting baby Clover, a sweet newborn with the most beautiful name. What made this session even more heartwarming was that her big brother, Claus, had also been in front of my camera for his own maternity, newborn, and 1st birthday sessions. Now, I had the privilege of photographing his adorable baby sister, at just a few days old.

A Family’s Journey Captured Through Every Milestone
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a newborn photographer is following families through their journeys. Having photographed Claus from the time his parents were expecting him through to his 1st birthday, it was incredible to now meet Clover and capture the next chapter in their story. Every family session tells its own unique tale. Capturing Claus gently holding Clover for a sibling shot was a moment of pure tenderness. You could see the wonder in his eyes as he cradled his baby sister, creating a memory they’ll cherish forever.

A Newborn Session Filled with Joy and Sweet Details
Baby Clover was a dream to photograph. Just a few days old, she slept peacefully as we moved through the session. Her soft, delicate features and the sweet moments of her stretching or smiling in her sleep were beautifully captured in the natural light of the studio. We used a combination of soft, neutral tones, and greens and cozy wraps to highlight her gentle innocence. Clover looked angelic wrapped in one of the studio’s softest blankets, with her tiny hands peeking out just enough for that classic newborn pose. Her peaceful expression made for some truly timeless images.

Celebrating Sibling Bonds
What makes sessions like these so special is not just capturing the beauty of a newborn, but also the connection between siblings. Claus was so proud and gentle with his baby sister. I could see how much love he had for her, and the bond between them was evident from the first shot to the last. Capturing these moments is so important for families—memories that will be cherished as they grow older. One of my favourite shots was Claus giving Clover the sweetest little kiss on her forehead. It was a perfect moment of sibling love, one that their parents will undoubtedly look back on with fondness.
