A Family's Queenstown Adventure Through My Lens

​Queenstown has a magic that’s hard to put into words—it’s the perfect mix of breathtaking landscapes and those cozy, unforgettable moments families share. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing a family visiting New Zealand, and their session was one of those that just sticks with you.

We chose one gorgeous location, surrounded by nature that seemed to stretch forever. Their youngest family member, just a few months old, stole the show (as babies do). To make the session extra special, I brought along a few props from the studio for him to lie in comfortably. Seeing him snuggled up, surrounded by this incredible scenery, was a moment that genuinely made me stop and smile.

Family sessions like these are about more than just getting a nice photo. It’s about capturing what makes your family you—the little laughs, the goofy faces, the quiet moments. I always offer tips on what to wear because, let’s face it, coordinating outfits can be tricky. It’s all about finding something that feels natural and works beautifully with the Queenstown vibe.

During the session, we kept things relaxed and fun. There were silly games, giggles, and even a bit of cheeky mischief—because that’s when the real magic happens. I’ll give some gentle guidance for poses when needed, but honestly, the best photos come when everyone is just being themselves. Those genuine connections, the way you all fit together as a family—those are the moments I love to capture.

What made this session even more special was hearing about their travels and the adventures they’d had in New Zealand. I love meeting families from all over the world—there’s something so humbling about being part of their journey and preserving these moments for them to look back on.

This session was full of laughs, a few quiet moments, and lots of love. It reminded me why I love what I do.
